Obituary

Pauline A. Casey, 99, of Metamora, formerly of Washington, passed away at 4:00pm Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Snyder Village in Metamora.

Pauline was born February 21, 1927, in Sayre, PA to the late John W. and Myrtie G. (Guild) Doane. She married Robert Casey on August 6, 1949, in Livonia Center, NY; he preceded her in death on June 25, 2003.

Surviving are their children, Kevin (Tracey) Casey of Lowpoint, IL, Michael Casey of Rio, IL, Colleen (Rick) Brown of Springfield, IL, Patrick Casey of Metamora, IL, and Cullen (Deanna) Casey, of Metamora, IL; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Norma Doane of Elmira, NY.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy; her siblings, William (Irene) Doane, Harold Doane, and Virginia (Bob) Walker; her grandson Rory Casey; and her daughters-in-law, Patricia Casey and Laurie Casey.

Pauline lived a long, full, and remarkable life. She grew up on a farm in Waverly, NY, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Keuka College, a rarity for women at that time. She worked in research and development for the RT French Co. until she met and married Robert. She was always active and learning new things such as refinishing antique furniture, gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and canning to name a few. She lived during an incredible time of much progress, and she embraced new technologies even texting her great grandchildren with emojis. She was courageous, adventurous, and exemplified the virtues of fortitude, charity, and perseverance.

She was a member of the Hopewell Grange and loved serving her parish church and school. When she was not working on a project or at St. Patrick's, she could be found caring for her family, watching her grandchildren, and helping others in need. Pauline's legacy will be one of faith, sacrificial love, and strength.
