Paul C. Belsly, 75, of Washington, passed away with his wife and daughters at his side in the home he built, per his wishes at 7:52 pm Friday, May 13, 2022.

He was born August 21, 1946 in Washington, IL to Ralph and Vivian Lathrum Belsly.  He married Kathleen Sweeney in Washington on October 20, 1973.  She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth (Matthew) Yost, Angela Belsly; one granddaughter, Juliette Yost; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers.

Paul was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War and was proud of his service.  He worked as a self employed contractor and concrete finisher in the Washington area for over 40 years before retiring.   He was a member of American Legion Post 100 in Washington for over 50 years.  He enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, and spending time with his family and friends.  He will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of his granddaughter Juliette.

Cremation has been accorded.  A memorial service will be held at 7pm Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.  The family requests that everyone in attendance wear a mask.
