Obituary

Patrick "Pat" Kirwan, 71, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria.

He was born in Peoria on March 31, 1952 in Peoria, to John "Jack" and Sylvia Campbell Kirwan.  He married Kelly Marr in Peoria on July 12, 1983.  He attended St. Marks Grade School and Bergan High School.  While at Bergan, he found his passion for playing golf as a member of the boys golf team.  Among the teams accomplishments were placing third in the 1968 IHSA boys golf tournament.  He also enjoyed playing in the Peoria Men's City Golf Tournament.  Pat also loved playing guitar, fishing, and peacefully spending time at home indulging in a Culver's double cheeseburger while watching Blue Bloods.

In his early years, Pat worked for Hardee's Warehouse, Wilkin's Pipe Supply Co., and tended bar at Shady Oaks Supper Club.  Those skills served him well, as he switched careers and started selling insurance for Monumental Insurance Co.  He finished his working career at American National Insurance Co. retiring in 2021.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Kathy.  He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Kelly (Marr); daughter Julie (Alan) Davidson of Katy, TX; four grandchildren, Mason Ghidina, Hunter, Spencer, and Drake Davidson; sister, Colleen (Dana) Dale of Forsyth, IL; three brothers, Kevin (Jane) of Princeville, Dan of Peoria, and John of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews.

Pat battled serious medical issues this year but kept going with the love of his wife, Kelly, his daughter, Julie, and his sister, Colleen.  A special thanks to his physician, Dr. Cusack, and the staff and working professionals at Unity Point/Carle Methodist Hospital and River Crossing, who helped Pat through his struggles.

Cremation has been accorded.  Graveside services will be held at 11am Friday, June 30, 2023 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital of Illinois.
