Obituary
Otavio A. Fleury, 24, of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, son of Washington,IL residents, formerly of Oswego, IL. passed away in a motorcycle accident, Sunday September 21, 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Otavio was born March 27, 1990 in So Paulo, Brazil to Tomaz A. and Ana Tereza Formigoni Fleury.
Surviving are his parents, of Washington; brother, Ricardo Fleury of Portland, OR; and maternal grandfather, Gilberto Formigoni of Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents.
Otavio came to Oswego, IL with his family as a sixth grader. He quickly adapted and excelled in academics and sports. At Oswego High School, he played volleyball (captain) and football, and graduated second in his class. After high school, he committed to Princeton University in New Jersey. He studied Civil and Environmental Engineering as a double major, and graduated in 2012. As a member of the football team at Princeton, he was highly ranked among punters in the Ivy League. Otavio had been working in Vietnam for Tractus Asia as a business consultant for the past two years. He loved sports, hiking, traveling and reading. Most important to him was his family, especially his mother.
A Funeral Mass for Otavio will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday October 2, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday October 1, 2014 at Dieterle Memorial Home in Montgomery, IL. Additional Visitation will be from 9:45AM until 10:45AM at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington is serving the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Otavio Fleury Memorial Fund c/o CEFCU that will go to his favorite charity in Vietnam that he was fundraising for these past couple of months.
