Orville E. Young, 92, of Washington, passed away at 5:25 pm Monday, October 29, 2018 at Heartland of Riverview Nursing Home in East Peoria. Born May 22, 1926 to Ora G. and Mary Alice Ennis Young in Harper, KS he married Ruth F. Woodyard on June 15, 1947 in Mattoon, IL. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Jemma Barry of East Peoria, Julie (Jim Holaday) Young of Pittsburgh, PA; two granddaughters, Angela (Jim) Horvatic of Pekin, Lara Swiersz of Madison, WI; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, and one brother. Orville spent his childhood in Charleston, IL before serving in the US Navy during WWII and also peace time in the Atlantic and Pacific areas. He worked as an auditor with the USDA before retiring in 1988. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
