Norman Townsend, 91, of Washington, passed away at 8:26am Saturday, July 1, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born May 12, 1932 in Bolckow, MO to Hallie Fay and Viola Kathryn Leedy Townsend.  He married Iona Howe on January 7, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO.  She preceded him in death on April 6, 2010.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; and son, Neil Townsend.

Surviving are his daughter, Carol (Paul) Garland; daughter-in-law, Deb Townsend; six grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Norm was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War.  He worked at Caterpillar Inc. before retiring.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He will be dearly missed.

Cremation has been accorded.  There will be no services at this time.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
