Norman Dwight Perkins, 86, of Homosassa, FL formerly of Washington and Pekin, IL, passed
away on October 26, 2024 in his home.
He was born on June 22, 1938 in Pekin, IL to the late Lela (Tomlinson) and James Perkins. He
married Loretta Schrader on February 5, 1970 in Lincoln, IL. She preceded him in death on
August 11, 2019.
Norman is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Schmidt, and Pam (Gregg) Ordner; his
grandchildren, Jason (Allie) Hammond, Justin Roffol, Amanda (Ryan) Walczak, Jordan Miller, and Hannah
(Joe) Woods; his great grandchildren, Bryce, Connor, Liam, Waylon, and Cheyenne; and his
siblings, Gene Perkins, Beverly Reigel, Ray Perkins, Rita Taylor, and Doris Meinders.
He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley, Wilma, and Donna; and his brother,
Richard.
Norman retired after 30 years of service at Caterpillar. He was a long time member of Averyville
Baptist Church. From driving the church bus, to serving as a Deacon, or offering his time and
talent for projects, he loved serving the church. In his spare time, he enjoyed cheering for the
Chicago Cubs, creating things in his woodshop, and tending to his garden.
Norman's funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Deiters
Funeral Home in Washington, with a visitation an hour prior. Pastor Mike Howard will be
officiating. Interment will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
