Norma Jean McCarthy, 90, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 6:10 am Friday, November 18, 2022 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.

Born on June 10, 1932 in Joliet, IL to Herbert and Mary Haggerty Secor, she married Joseph James McCarthy on August 22, 1953 in Joliet, IL. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1991.

Surviving are 5 children; Michael (Julie) McCarthy of Brimfield, IL, Patrick (Erin) McCarthy of Washington, IL, Joseph (Susie) McCarthy of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Erin (Dave Brown) McCarthy of Peoria, IL and Terri McCarthy of Peoria, IL, 11 grandchildren; Kelly McCarthy, Nick McCarthy, Ryan McCarthy, Jamie (Joshua) Smith, Chris McCarthy, Mara McCarthy, Joseph McCarthy, Jack McCarthy, Jimmy McCarthy, Caitlin (Paul) McCarthy, and Cari (Zack) McCarthy, and 5 great-grandchildren; Tierney, Chloe, Carter, Charlotte, and Camille.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Shirley and Betty.

Norma enjoyed reading, traveling, antiquing in Northern Wisconsin and was of the Catholic faith. She also enjoyed time spent with her family.

Services for Norma will be private and burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting her family with arrangements.
