Obituary WASHINGTON - Norma K. Haworth, 73, of Washington, IL, died at 8:29 pm Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Born on February 9, 1938 in Anderson, KY to Orville William and Virginia Gaines Smith, she married Donald J. Haworth on November 23, 1958 in East Peoria, IL. He survives. Also surviving are 1 son Phillip Haworth of McKinney, TX and 1 daughter, Sarah (Dr. James) Filipiak of Mattoon, IL, 1 brother, Dr. Bill Smith of Russellville, KY and 1 grandson, Colby Filipiak. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 son, Mark David Haworth. Norma was an LPN, working with Hospice and the Candlelighters. She also worked as the Head Librarian of the Mackinaw Library and was the Circulation Librarian at the Washington District Library. She served on the board of trustees at the Cunningham Children's Home and had been a member of the Peoria DAR Chapter, where she served as Chaplain. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Peoria and had been active in United Methodist Women where she had served as an officer at both local and conference levels. She also was an avid researcher of family genealogy. A funeral service for Norma will be at 10:30 am Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Peoria. Rev. Cathy Clark will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in the church parlor. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. A graveside service will follow at 4 pm Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Zion Hill Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
