Obituary
WASHINGTON--Norma J. Burtrum, 77, of Washington, died at 4:33 PM, on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Washington Christian Village. She was born on October 27, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Emette and Jewell Rogers Newberry. She married Tommie J. Burtrum on August 4, 1948 in West Plains, MO, and they moved to the Peoria area shortly thereafter. He survives. Also surviving is her son, Ken (Mary) Burtrum of Morton, IL; daughter, Nancy (Richard) Light of Washington, IL; 3 grandsons, Max Burtrum of Morton, IL, and Christopher and Todd Light, both of Washington, IL; a granddaughter, Kate (Nic) Saylor of Morton, IL; 3 brothers, Roy (Beulah) Newberry of Mackinaw, IL, Sam (Nina) Newberry and Calvin (Jane) Newberry, both of Kansas City, MO; 2 sisters, Eunice (Ray) Halloway of Kansas City, MO, and Catherine (Howard) Harris of Smithville, MO. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Clyde and Robert Newberry. She was a member of the Church of Christ in East Peoria, IL. Norma was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband, Tommie, raised their family in East Peoria on Bloomington Road. Upon retirement, they moved to Washington. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Lee Keele will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.
