Obituary WASHINGTON - Nellie T. Edwards, 99, of Washington, IL and formerly of Joliet, IL, died at 7:25 pm Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. Born on November 3, 1908 in Hanna City, IL, to William H. and Pearl Fox Thrush, she married Raymond W. Edwards on November 17, 1928 in Peoria, IL. He died on June 30, 1994 in Joliet, IL. Surviving are 1 daughter Phyllis (David) Matheny of Washington, IL and 1 daughter-in-law, Theresa Edwards of Joliet, IL, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son R. James Edwards, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers. Nellie was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in East Peoria. She also was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a selfless and giving person, and a faithful Christian all her life. A memorial service will be at 11 am Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Keith Mewes will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of the cremains will be at a later date at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet, IL. Memorials may be made to Washington Christian Village, St. Peter Lutheran Church in East Peoria, or a charity of the donors choice.
