Obituary
East Peoria- Nat G. Goodwin, 87, of East Peoria died at 1:55 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his residence. His loving wife was by his side. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on February 17, 1927, to Ray Riley and Edna Gordon Goodwin Sr. His mother died when he was 4 years old. His father remarried Gladys Stowe Goodwin when Nat was 8 years old. Nat married Wanda Belle Bailey on March 19, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together and she survives. Nat is also survived by their two children, Nancy (Steve) Jones of Metamora and Rex (Sara) Goodwin of Clovis, CA; his daughter-in-law, Sue Goodwin of Winneconne, WI; three grandchildren, Fallon M. Goodwin (Michael) Martinez, Joanna B. Jones (Michael) Walton and David A. Jones; two great-grandchildren; twin brothers, Daniel and Nathaniel Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott G. Goodwin in 2003; one sister, Geraldine Goodwin Harkness, and one brother, Ray Riley Goodwin Jr.
Nat was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and in the Air Force Reserves during the Korean War. He later worked as an independent Salesman for Electrical products in the Midwest. He retired in 1989 to Arizona. He was longtime NRA member. He was also a private pilot and member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
There will be a memorial service for Nat on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11 AM at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Peoria, IL. Reverend James M. Clement will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is handling arrangements. Inurnment will be at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to the American Heart Association.
