Obituary EAST PEORIA - Nancy J. Sobieski, 78, of East Peoria, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Nancy was born July 20, 1936 to Raymond and Agnes Fox Carty in Chicago. She married Peter J. Sobieski in Chicago on September 28, 1957. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2014. Nancy is survived by her three children, Marivern "Mari" Sobieski of Palos Heights, formerly of Burbank, Peter J. (Hazel) Sobieski III of Chicago, and Raymond (Amy) Sobieski of Washington; six grandchildren, John, Ellen, Shaun, Katie, Carolyn and Samantha; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter; one son, Michael Patrick Sobieski; one grandson, Joseph Peter Sobieski; and one sister, Laverne Carty Ruby. Nancy was a 1954 graduate of Lourdes High School in Chicago. She worked as a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Nancy was an active member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria. She enjoyed spending time with the ladies of the local Red Hat Society, traveling, playing in her Bunco Club, and golfing in her free time. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica's Food Pantry. A funeral Mass for Nancy will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria. Father Stephen Willard will officiate. There will be a visitation on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 5:00-7:00PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with recitation of the Rosary at 4:30PM. On Saturday, an additional visitation will be held a half hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
