Nancy L. Metka, 85, of Washington, formerly of Dixon, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Nancy was born September 14, 1940 in Baltimore, MD to John and Hildreth (Stohmer) Cougnet. Her father preceded her in death during his service in World War II, and her mother and step-father, Richard Lane, also preceded her.

She married Phillip E. Metka on February 17, 1962 in Baltimore. They shared 52 years of marriage until his passing on May 28, 2014.

Surviving are her children, Stacey (Jeff) Little of Washington and Dan (Kelly) Metka of Woodstock, GA; her grandchildren, Brittany Metka (Carlos), Stefanie El-Darazi (Alan), Jacy Icenogle (Tyler), Taylor Plescher (Jon), Baylie Schone (Connor), Lawson Metka, and P. Candler Metka; her great-grandchildren, Patricia, Denny, Nora, Kane, Addy, Lucy, and Booker; and her siblings, Bob (Carolyn) and John Cougnet.

Nancy and Phil lived in Dixon for 27 years until moving to Washington in 2007. While in Dixon, she was a dedicated volunteer at the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home for 26 years, also volunteering with the Petunia Festival. Nancy was a storyteller, which served her well at the Reagan home, but also benefited her friends and family. She was a skilled quilter and card maker, loving to bless others with her creations. She and Phil enjoyed 15 winters in Amelia Island, FL and loved spending time with family.

Nancy's funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home (Young America's Foundation) or the Washington to Peoria St. Jude Run.
