Nancy C. Ashurst passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at home. She was born to Charles and Evelyn Ashby on May 15, 1946. Nancy married "the love of her life", William "Possum" Ashurst on July 14, 1984 at an outdoor ceremony on Grandview Drive in Peoria Heights. Surviving is her husband of Morton, IL along with two children, Darrell (Pam) Dearing of Collins, MO, and Marci Hunt of Pontiac, IL; one stepson, Jason (Alicia) Ashurst of St. Charles, MO, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandchild. Nancy worked at Peoria City County Health Department and later at Caterpillar Tractor Co. as a systems analyst, retiring in 1999. She was a member of East Peoria First United Methodist Church. She was an avid quilter, winning awards in Panama City, FL and Peoria. Nancy and Possum spent 17 winters in Panama City Beach, where she also taught quilting. Nancy also did embroidery for many businesses as well as numerous race teams, recently Duncan Racing and Patterson racing. She loved cats and supported TAPS in Tazewell County. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to OSF Hospice, especially Angie B. and Pam. Private family services will be held at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to TAPS or East Peoria First United Methodist Church.
