Myrna Kay Heavrin (Livengood) passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 at OSF Hospital at the age of 83.
Kay was born March 2nd, 1938 in Peoria, IL to Fred Wayne and Gwendolyn Harriet Livengood (Rabbe). She attended Peoria Central High School, class of 1956.
Kay married Kayton G. Heavrin on July 16th, 1979 in Union City, Tennessee. They had 42 wonderful years together. "It has been my pleasure and good fortune to love and been loved by my best friend and husband, Kayton!"
Kay is survived by her husband, Kayton, her son, Brett W. (Susan) Hensey of Boulder, CO. Her daughter, Nikki B. (Jim) Lind of Washington, IL. Her two step-sons, Bret D. Heavrin of Washington, IL and Timothy J. Heavrin of Washington, IL. And nine grandchildren, Wesley J. (Nichole) Lind, Jennifer E. (Kyle) Von Holten, Melissa N. (Patrick) Callahan, Grey G. Hensey, Cheyenne B. Hensey, Katie G. Heavrin, Casey A. (Ryan) Pfeifer, Kyle D. (Casey) Heavrin and Kelsey A. (Christopher) Suarez and 11 great grandchildren.
She had worked for various firms in accounting, retiring in 1990. She volunteered at Proctor Hospital and was on the Board of Volunteers and ran the snack shop with all perfect scores from the Health Department. She was a member and a previous board member of the Peoria County Genealogical Society and also belonged to several other genealogical societies in the U.S. and abroad. She was also a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Washington, IL.
Kay was a woman of many passions including: reading, genealogy, gardening, boating, traveling (traveling to all 50 states and numerous countries abroad with Kayton), doing puzzles, fishing, searching for river rocks and fossils, playing games, Nascar, but her greatest passion was her family and friends. She had a fun sense of humor and made life fun for others, especially during holiday gatherings. She really enjoyed watching her family grow over the years. She was delighted to become a grandma and a great-grandma. She always said, "What a treat!" She will truly be missed by all!
A private family celebration of her life will be held on March 2nd, 2022. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
