Obituary
WASHINGTON-Muriel A. Welter, 94, of Washington, IL died at 4pm Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Born on August 15, 1917 in Ford City, MI to Edward and Mary Harrington Grahl, she married Justin I. Welter on June 16, 1939 in Wyandotte, MI. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2005.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and 2 brothers, Herbert and Edward Grahl.
Surviving is 1 daughter, Marcia (Gary) Miller of Washington, IL; 1 son, Jay (Penny) Welter of Gaylord, MI; 1 brother, Mason Grahl of Trenton, MI; 5 grandchildren, Julie (Mark) Shoopman of Metamora, IL, Janelle (Jeff) Reents of Wilmington, IL, Jill (Craig) Hibbard of Washington, IL, Jayson (Sara) Welter of Lansing, MI, and Kimberly (Steve) Strader of Lake Orion, MI and 8 great-grandchildren.
Muriel worked as a bookkeeper and then became a full time housewife. She was a Girl Scout Leader and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of a golf league in Peoria and several bowling leagues. Muriel enjoyed watching NASCAR. She volunteered for many organizations as needed.
Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a private family service at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
