Obituary
Mildred Marie Spillman, 93, of East Peoria, IL died at 7:30 am Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria.
Born on September 6, 1918 in Morton, IL to Karl and Emma Stroh Metzger, she married William J. Spillman on June 15, 1940 in East Peoria. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Hilbert.
Surviving are 2 sons, William L. (Cheryl) Spillman of East Peoria, IL and Daniel J. (Aileen) Spillman of Herbster, WI, 1 sister, Eleanor Held of East Peoria, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was the Secretary for the Superintendant and the President of TP&W Railroad and worked for Schelm Brothers, both in East Peoria. She later worked at Commercial Bank in Peoria, setting up MasterCharge accounts, and then at Illinois Central College for 3 years as a Secretary.
Mildred was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in East Peoria for more than 86 years, making her one of the oldest memberships on record. She was instrumental in organizing the Older Youth Group and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary, both at her church. She was also active in several bowling leagues.
Services for Mildred will be at 11 am Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria. Pastor Kurt Mews will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 -11 am Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
