Obituary MARQUETTE HEIGHTS - Michael Jon Tegg, 48, of Marquette Heights, IL died at 11:10 pm Friday, April 29, 2011 at his home. Born on January 21, 1963 in Peoria, to Ralph and M. Ilene Johnston Tegg Jr., he married Tari R. Legel on October 7, 1990 and later became engaged to Joni Westerhouse who loved and cared for him these last few years. Surviving are his parents of Peoria, 1 son, Michael H. Tegg and 1 daughter Alexis I. Tegg, both at home, 1 stepdaughter, Shandi Watts of Ft. Hood, TX, 1 brother, David T. Tegg of Peoria, 2 sisters, Kim L. Tegg of Washburn, and Cindy (David) White of Billings, MO, his fiance, Joni Westerhouse of Pekin, and her two children Kassi and Chad. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and aunt, Bev Dwyer. Mike graduated from Illinois Valley Central High School in Chillicothe in 1980. He worked as a salesman for Gateway Milling until his first brain tumor in 1992. Mike loved to plant flowers in his yard, fishing, and being outdoors. Mike was an inspiration to all that knew him as he bravely fought brain cancer and its side effects. A funeral service for Mike will be at 7 pm Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Karen Merrick will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund established at CEFCU for the benefit of his two children, Michael and Alexis, or to the American Brain Tumor Association.
