Obituary
Washington- Michael Paul Henderson, 72 of Washington, passed away at 10:57 AM on Monday, August 13, 2012 at his home. Mike was born on April 10, 1940 in Rochelle, IL to the late Jack and Betty (Saathoff) Henderson. He married Jacqueline Gilmore on January 16, 1965 in Rockford, IL. She survives.
Also surviving is a son and a daughter, Daniel (Pam) Henderson of Roanoke, and Shelley (Jian) Lin of Pekin; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Caleb, Arabella and Ying; two brothers and one sister, James B. (Carol) Henderson of Dixon, Mary Lynn Sholders of Mesa, AZ; and Steven Henderson of Galesburg. Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy G. Henderson.
Mike was a food salesman for many years for James A. Woodhouse Company in Peoria Heights. He finished his career working for Glatz Brothers in Peoria, retiring in2000.
Mike was an avid bass fisherman, and greatly enjoyed spending most weekends fishing at he & Jackie's camper trailer. In his younger years he umpired baseball at the Northern Tazewell Recreation Association ball park in Sunnyland.
Mike served in the United States Navy from 1959-1963, including service aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Independence during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Mike was a very loving family man.
Funeral Services will take place at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Ken Sistrunk will officiate with interment in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Visitation for Mike will take place on Sunday from 2-4 PM and on Monday from 12:30 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Illinois Cancer Center in Peoria.
