He was born May 2, 1972 in Peoria to Michael and Belinda (DeWeese) Kern of Washington, IL. He married Tammy M. Clark in Peoria on June 3, 2000. She survives. Also surviving are his parents; five children, Chris Hartman, Stephen Hartman, Amber Kern, Alex Kern, Alyssa Kern; one sister; Suzie (Steve) Jeffrey of Peoria; one brother, Dustin (Jenell) Kern of Morton, his maternal grannie, Martha Sue DeWeese of Washington, and six nieces and nephews; Rachael, Daniel, Cadin, Avery, Alaena, and Joanna. He was preceded in death by his maternal grand dad, James DeWeese and his paternal grandparents, William and Bernadine Kern. Micah was a 1990 Graduate of Washington Community High School, and received his Associate Degree from Illinois Central College. He then earned a degree in Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, and worked as a chef before becoming secretary and treasurer of Bethany Missionary Church. He also served as Co-Director of their preschool and Director of Vacation Bible School for many years. He loved serving the Lord and always went above and beyond in his duties. His most recent work, which he truly enjoyed, was as the top tax preparer for Jackson-Hewitt. He excelled in his position and had many loyal clients returning every year. Micah had an affable nature that created many long-lasting friendships with anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He truly loved his family and friends and loved spending time with them. He served as a Boy Scout Leader for his son's troop, attended all the Daddy/Daughter Dances for his daughters and made many family vacations special for his whole family. Micah will forever have a presence in our hearts. Cremation has been accorded. There will be no services. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made FBO Micah Kern Memorial Fund at any CEFCU.
