Obituary East Peoria-Melissa Magarity, 51, of East Peoria, died at 9:35 AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Peoria, IL on October 21, 1956 to James and Janeth Geber. They survive. Melissa married David R. Piper in 1975 and later married Pat Magarity in 1994. Survivors include two sons David I. (Alana Waters) Piper of Brookfield, IL, and Zachary (Ines Lagos) Piper of Chicago, IL; two daughters Brittany Piper of Chicago, IL, and Allison Piper of East Peoria, IL; two brothers Martin (Kathy) Geber of Lakin and Matthew Geber of Chicago; as well as two step-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Melissa worked for various State Farm Agencies, most recently for Tom Gramkow in Peoria Heights as the Office Manager. She loved shopping, cooking, and the Chicago Cubs. A visitation for Melissa Magarity will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria from 3-5 PM. Private graveside services will be held after cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the Allison Piper Education Fund.
