Melba E. Wells, 88, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 11:52am Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born on November 3, 1933 in Peoria to the late Mary (Uppole) and Dewey Middleton, Sr.

Surviving are her five daughters, Karen (John) Hill, Vicki Covey, Connie Johnston, Patricia (Brad) Grimm, and Crystal Dian Wells; her grandson, Brad (Miea) Levery; her great-grandchildren Blake, Brooke, Kaleb; and her siblings, Don (Nancy) Middleton and Dolores Koziol.

She was preceded in death by siblings Dewey Middleton, Jr., Geraldine Blender, and Leona Middleton; and son-in-law Steve Covey.

Melba was a devoted mother who cherished her family, an incredible friend and a talented interior designer who's creativity brought beauty to the lives of others. Her sense of humor and fun will be missed by many.

While her family grieves her loss, they will remember her spirit that touched all who crossed her path.

A private family service to celebrate Melba's life will be held at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.

Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
