Obituary
Mavis J. Dailey, 86, of Washington passed away on September 10, 2011 at 1:30 a.m., at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.
Mavis was born to Noah and Marylu Vinnie Smothers Jordan on March 15, 1925 in Benton Co. TN. Mavis married James Murry Dailey Sr. on February 15, 1947 in Tupelo,MS he preceeded her in death on Oct. 28 2005.
She is survived by her son, James M. (Becky) Dailey Jr. of Metamora; Daughter Jan (Bill) Dietrich of Washington; Grandchildren, Robert (Kathy) Dailey of Metamora, Renee (Tom) Dailey Carrigan of Bloomington, Zachary (Krista) Dietrich of Corpus Christi, TX Joshua (Jennifer) Dietrich of Elmwood; five Great Granddaughters , three Step-Great Grandsons; sister, Marjorie (James) Spoon of Metamora. She was preceeded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
Mavis owned and operated North Tazewell Draperies. Her family benefited from her many talents including quilting, sewing, and her great southern cooking. Mavis was a charter member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Washington.
Services for Mavis will be held at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, on Tuesday September 13 at 10am, Elder Jerry Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7pm at the Funeral Home on Monday in Washington. Interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
