Obituary
Maryann W. Sullivan, 88, of Washington, passed away at 9:48 pm Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at Morningside of Washington.
She was born in Peoria, IL on Aug. 13, 1929, daughter of William and Madeline Hanson Wetzbarger. She married Dr. Robert Sullivan at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington on Sept. 22, 1951. He survives.
Also surviving are 4 children, Michael (and Ann) of Elmwood, John (and Laurie) of St. Louis, Barth Thomas (and Marie) of Wooddale, Mary Kathleen of Colorado Springs; 7 grandchildren, James, Patrick, Kaelan, Connor (and Tara), Matthew, Kilian, Kieran; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a beloved sister, Dorothy Schumacher.
She attended Eureka public schools, Eureka College, and graduated as an RN from the St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria in 1951.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and nurse, she was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed flower gardening and was an excellent and avid contract bridge player. After raising her family, she returned to her profession and served as an orthopedic nurse at OSF for ten years.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Morningside of Washington for their devoted and excellent care during her confinement.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or to a charity of donor's choice.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 am Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington with Fr. Stephen Willard officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
