Obituary EAST PEORIA--Mary Lou Schlesinger, 73, of Peoria, formerly of East Peoria, died at 8:10 AM, on Friday, December 29, 2006 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was born on May 13, 1933 in Millville, New Jersey to Joseph O. and Ruth Schelm Engle. She married William Schlesinger on February 1, 1957 in Peoria, Illinois; he survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, William Schlesinger, Jr. of Tucson, AZ and Robert (Marie) Schlesinger of East Peoria; 1 daughter, Jane Ann (Lonnie) Counterman of East Peoria; 1 brother, Joseph (Juanice) Engle of Dallas, TX; 1 sister, Betty Engle of Peoria, IL; and 8 grandchildren. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Eugene 'Tack' Engle. She was a graduate of Woodruff High School class of 1951 and received her Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling from Bradley University. Mary Lou worked as a Counselor at Woodruff High School and had taught for District 150 in Peoria. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority at Bradley University, and was active in the Woodruff High School Alumni Association. Mary Lou was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. George Hirst will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following services, and inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Woodruff High School Alumni Assocation.
