Obituary Mary Bernadine Oberle, 93, of Washington, passed away at 10:15am, Friday, December 12, 2014 at her home. Mary was born December 30, 1920 in Carnegie, PA to Dr. Bernard and Alice Nelson Henney. On October 25, 1944, she became the devoted wife of Theodore Oberle in Pittsburgh, PA. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2009. Surviving are their 6 children, Susan (James) Selis of Kent, WA, Joan (Dean) Caldwell of Seattle, WA, Kristine (Steve) Adden of McCormick, SC, Timothy (Rita) Oberle of Greenville, SC, Lawrence (Kerri) Oberle of Terre Haute, IN, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Galanti of Buffalo, NY; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings. Mary lovingly made a home for her family, and was a master seamstress, avid gardener, and birdwatcher. She was an active member and volunteer at St. Patrick Catholic Church, and volunteered at St. Patrick's Grade School over the many years her children attended. She was designated a lifetime member of the Town & Country Garden Club, where she had served as Secretary and Treasurer. In 2012, a luncheon was held in her honor for her years of service to the club and her gardening expertise. Mary and Ted enjoyed travel throughout their married life, and her last international trip was a spiritual pilgrimage to Medjugorje Bosnia when she was 82. A funeral Mass for Mary will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be a half prior to Mass at the church. Friends are welcome to visit the family at Mary's home on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 7-9:00pm at 916 Birchwood Dr. in Washington. Inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Father Julius Turyatoranwa will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peoria Catholic Charities or a charity of the donor's choice.
