Obituary EAST PEORIA- Mary Lou McWhirter, 66, of East Peoria passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 7:02 A.M. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mary was born January 22, 1949 in Peoria to Charles and Betty Angel McMullen. She married Bill McWhirter on July 22, 1967 in East Peoria. He survives. Also surviving are her sons, Billy McWhirter and Chad (Stephanie) McWhirter, both of East Peoria; three special grandchildren, Casey, Caitlin, and Lindsay; and one sister, Carol Munday of Creve Coeur. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Mike Munday. Mary was a 1967 graduate of East Peoria High School. Mary worked for 25 years as the school secretary for District 86 at Central Jr. High School in East Peoria. She retired on June 1, 2009. She was a member of a longtime Bunco Club who met to play each month. Above all else, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She could always be found at her grandchildren's sporting events; cheering loud for the Raiders and Wildcats. She loved family vacations to Walt Disney World in Florida and collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria, where she was a member. A funeral service for Mary will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:00A.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Kurt Mews will officiate. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 4:00-7:00P.M. at the funeral home in East Peoria and a half hour prior to the service on Thursday, from 10:30A.M-11:00A.M.
