Helen Hendrix, 87, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born January 17, 1938 in Ceerulian, Kentucky to the late Daniel and Gertha (Stewart) Bennett.  She married Joe Hendrix in Washington February 18, 1978. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2020.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Barney Noel; son-in-law, Patrick Diaz; and three sisters.

She is survived by two children, Joseph (Amanda) Hendrix, Deborah (Daniel Bailey) Diaz; six grandchildren, Ben, Sam, and Charlotte Hendrix, Angela Diaz, Amy (Mark) Williams, Amber (Eric) Land; four great-grandchildren, Brennen (Emily) Williams, Trevor Williams, Stormy and Scarlotte Land; and nephew, Billy (Cindy) James.

Helen worked as a cake decorator at Trefzgers Bakery in Peoria.  She was the main wedding cake decorator there, retiring after 27 years.  She loved to travel with her husband after they retired and enjoyed their home and family.  She was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Washington.

Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded.  There will be a private inurnment at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
