Obituary
Washington - Mary L. Hatfield, 72, of Washington died on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 7:55 AM at her residence. She was born on November 28, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to Hugo and Martha Davis Frieda. She married William C. Hatfield on February 18, 1961 in Florissant, MO. He survives. Also surviving are three sons; William (Jill) Hatfield of Raleigh, NC, Patrick (Patty) Hatfield of Washington, IL, and Michael (Banu) Hatfield of Morton, IL. Nine grandchildren; Bennett, Kathleen, Samantha, Maggie, Elizabeth, Miranda, Ethan, Andrew and Jack. Two brothers; Hugo "Mike" (Donna) Frieda of Raleigh, NC , George (Jacque) Frieda of Florissant, MO and one sister; Valine (Patrick) Todaro of Weldon Springs, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary began teaching in 1978 in District 50, teaching 4th grade, 5th grade, computers and also taught in the gifted program. She retired in June of 2004. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church and was a past Red Cross Volunteer where she was a Disaster Action Team Captain.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday January 17, 2012 at 11AM at Crossroads United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tom Goodell will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be an inurnment service at Crossroads United Methodist Church at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is handling arrangements.
