Obituary WASHINGTONa"Martha E. Phegley, 82, of Washington died at 12:05 PM on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Belwood Nursing Home following a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. Born March 30, 1928 in Shelby Co, IL to Homer and Ruth Brewer Moore, she married Clem R. Phegley on July 4, 1947 in Shelbyville, IL. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1979. Surviving are 3 children, Delores (Greg Holmes) Cole of Metamora, Roy (Kathy) Phegley of Washington and Joyce (Jim) Harlan of Washington; 8 grandchildren, Chad (Susan) Phegley, Lisa (Matt) Hood, Angela (Mike) Fuller, Jo Jo Cole, Geni (Vinnie) Randle, Joshua (Susan) Harlan, Jeremy Harlan, and Jeff (Vie) Harlan; 14 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Marvin (Joyce) Moore and John Robert Moore; 2 sisters, Mary (Harold) Smith and Eloise (Richard) Lockwood; and 1 brother-in-law, John Morrison. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Wanda Gordon and Beverly Morrison. Martha worked in retail sales for many years, starting at Top Value Redemption Center on Jefferson Street in Peoria, Miracle Mart in Sunnyland, Carson Prairie Scott at Northwoods Mall in Peoria, and Kimplings Hardware in Washington before retiring. She was a member of Washington Church of Christ. There will be a funeral service at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
