Obituary Sunnyland - Martha A. Burd, 77, of Sunnyland died at 10:10 PM on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. She was born on October 30, 1935 in Tamms, IL to Hamby A. and Lillian Nell Etherton Haney. She married Logan Burd Sr. on May 23, 1953 in Mounds, IL. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son Larry Burd of Bayview Gardens in 2011. Martha is survived by one daughter, Becky Burd of Peoria and one son, Charlie (Rhonda) Burd of Farmington, IL, four grandchildren; Aaron (Ashley) Burd of Ellisville, MO, Sgt. Andrew (Scherie) Burd of Fountain, CO, Alaina (Nathan) Hamilton of Peoria, Alyssa Burd of Farmington, two great-grandchildren; Carson Hamilton and Anthony Burd, one sister, Linda Steiger of Sunnyland and one brother, Hamby (Sandra) Haney Jr. of Seal Beach, CA. She worked several years as an LPN at both Fondulac Nursing Home and Washington Christian Village. Martha was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, never missing a game. To honor her and her favorite team, the family asks that you wear your St. Louis Cardinal shirts to the visitation. Martha loved following her grandchildren through their sporting events, especially ICC softball. She loved to play card games of any kind. She was known to send out nearly 40 cards of encouragement monthly to her family and friends, a ministry that will be missed by many. Martha was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Sunnyland, where her funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2013 at 10 AM. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Tuesday on Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and one half hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
