Mark A.
Robison
Sep 22, 1973 — May 25, 2025
Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Mark wasn't technically any of these things, but to those in his inner circle, he was very much a super hero.
Mark Robison, 51, of East Peoria, IL, died May 25, 2025. A native to East Peoria, Mark was an adventurous child who could always be found running around the neighborhood getting into good-natured trouble. His adult life was pretty much the same and was centered around shenanigans with some of those same childhood friends, along with some additions who were lucky enough to get picked up along the way.
He attended the University of Illinois earning a bachelor's degree in psychology. He also attended Bradley University, earning a Master's degree in counseling. While Mark only worked in the counseling field for a few years, his kind heart and eagerness to make the world around him a better place was evident to everyone who knew him. He recently celebrated his 20th anniversary working at Mediacom, where he excelled in both residential and business sales. Though Mark enjoyed the people he worked with, his job was really just a way to finance his true passion: not working.
Whether it was trips to Vegas or to Aldi, Mark made everything a fun adventure. His house was the hub for almost weekly celebrations including birthdays and important holidays like Christmas, Lunar New Year, and National Pizza Day. His back deck and pool were the essence of summer, with countless gossip sessions, family swim days, and rounds of laughter. He hosted what are sure to become legendary sleepovers with all his nieces and nephews that included Nerf gun wars, video games, movies, and just pure fun. He had a true open-door policy with friends and family popping in daily for just a few minutes of chatting or an impromptu hours-long viewing of music videos or Cooking Network shows. Mark was always up for anything.
He loved his family and friends so much and was always super supportive of whatever brought them joy. He attended endless sporting events, recitals, plays, school events, and choir concerts to see the kids he loved doing the things they loved. Depending on the event, he may have been listening to an audio-book to help him make it through, but he was there to show his love and support.
Besides supporting and hosting his friends and family, Mark's other interests included comic books and reading in general, most things sci-fi, music, food and cocktails (if he cooked, it usually contained celery salt, even if the recipe didn't call for it) movies and tv shows, shopping, trips to Iowa, St. Louis, and Vegas for games of chance, and legitimately going on any kind of adventure.
Mark is survived by a loving throng of family and friends including his parents, Mike and Mary Robison, who he loved dearly. He still ate dinner with them several times a week and loved spending time with them at home and on most of his vacations. His brother Matt Robison, his sisters Megan (Scott) Oetgen, and Maryn (Brian) Bevard, and his nieces and nephews Emma, Kali, Cole, Zeke, Sydney, Georgia, Laila, Ike and a great-niece Ava. He is also survived by his chosen family, including the Brown girls, the Brown-Schultz family that includes his goddaughters Rio and Maya, and several close friends who know who they are. He was proceeded in death by his grandfather who he lived with and cared for, Orville and Georgina Cole and Marjory and Sheldon Robison.
Phoenix was one of Mark's favorite X-Men characters and this is one of her quotes from UXM #303: "We come into this world alone…and we leave the same way…the time we spend in between…time spent alive, sharing, learning…together…is all that makes life worth living."
His family will receive guests from 10:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A service will begin at 12:30pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Nicole Cox officiating. Interment will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
If attending services, please dress casual with colorful clothing or superhero/X-men shirts if you have them. Mark wasn't into black.
In lieu of flowers, please buy a child a comic book or graphic novel.
