Obituary WASHINGTON-Marion Howard Shipman, 69, of Washington, IL died at 8:40 AM Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria, IL. Born on March 31, 1944 in Pekin, IL to Howard H. and Virginia Lucera Shipman, he married Doreen M. Waldschmidt on July 8, 1972 in Camp Grove, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters, Anne (Tom) Claussen of Naperville, Elisa (David) Gricunas of Brookfield,WI, Cindy (John) D'Ambrosio of Chicago, and Jeanine (Adam) McMillen of Geneva, to whom he was a great dad; 1 sister, Barbara O'Brien of Tremont; 1 brother, Daniel (Christine) Shipman of Pekin. Howard loved being a grandpa to his 9 grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, and Benjamin Claussen; Daniel and Deanna Gricunas; Alaina and Nathan D'Ambrosio; and Bennett and Aubrey McMillen. He was preceded in death by his parents. Howard graduated from Bradley University and Illinois State University. He was formerly an insurance agent with the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father John Menco Council #6707and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Spalding Assembly. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, with recitation of the Rosary at 3:45 PM.
