Obituary

Obituary Marion Edward Camp, 81, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 7:19pm, Monday, October 27, 2014 at his home. He was born in Willow Bend Bottoms, AR on June 17, 1933 to Charles William and Maude Sarah Parsons Camp. He married Bernice L. Tilley on June 21, 1954 in Morrilton, AR; she survives. Surviving are their children, Bernard E. Camp of Peoria Heights, Terry E. (Gretchen) Camp of Forest City, and Cynthia D. (Cameron) Staples of Benson; 7 grandsons, 4 granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, William Camp of Fresno, CA, Floyd (Joyce) Camp of Red Bud, IL, Sarah Van Eps of Redondo Beach, CA, Ethel Heilman of Clovis, CA, and Bud (Joann) Camp of Lenore, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, and 1 sister. Marion was raised as a son of sharecroppers. He went on to serve in the US Army for three years at the end of the Korean War. He retired from Ray Machine and Mfg. in 1999 after 34 years of service as a machinist, and had previously worked at Hyster for 15 years. In his retirement, Marion enjoyed traveling around the country in his RV, fishing, and watching the Cardinals play. A funeral service for Marion will be held at 6:00pm, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Forest City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UnityPoint-Methodist Hospice or to the American Lung Association. Cemetery Details Forest City Cemetery 2075 Washington Rd.
