Obituary

Marilyn Helen (Street) Sanders, 86, of Metamora, formerly of Sunnyland, passed away at 6:08am Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Snyder Village. She was born April 16, 1934, the youngest of 11, in Peoria to the late Jim and Cora Street. As a child, she sang and danced with the Studio, performed in plays, and played piano and organ quite well. Painting and other crafts were a focus for her later in life, even winning a contest with her handpainted sweatshirts, and she enjoyed making cards for friends and family. She continued to love music well into the progression of Alzheimer's Disease which finally claimed her life.She had a long career as an executive secretary at Caterpillar, retiring in 1995 after 35 years of service, working primarily in the Engine Division. On July 18, 1977, she married Dwight A. Sanders. They were devoted to each other and to life in Jesus Christ. They were longtime members of Grace Presbyterian Church, where she played the piano, and later Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Dwight and Marilyn were founding members of the Community Bible Study- Peoria East Bible Study Group. They enjoyed eating out, cookouts with family and friends, golf and dancing lessons. She was preceded in death by Dwight on September 6, 2020 and six brothers and four sisters. She is survived by three step-children, Mitch Sanders of Wimberly, TX, Jovena Sanders of Cypress, TX and Cassandra Basso of Peoria; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Private interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
