Marilyn Ruth
Mccoy
Aug 7, 1933 — Oct 30, 2022
Marilyn Ruth McCoy, 89, of Washington, IL, passed away at Reflections in Morton surrounded by family on Oct 30, 2022.
Marilyn was born August 7,1933, in a farmhouse in Havana, IL, to Clarence W. and Leta M. (Wendt) Trimpe. She married John J. McCoy on July 5, 1953, in Havana. Their 53 years of marriage lasted until his death in 2007. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and her oldest son, Gary McCoy.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy (Terry) Carlson, her son Steve (Debbie) McCoy, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie McCoy, all of Washington; five grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Carlson, Brandon (Deidre) Carlson, Darin (Heidi) McCoy, Stephanie (Nick) Yonke, Sarah (Alex) Wilson, and step-grandson Scott (Mary)Mattingly; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three siblings, brother William Trimpe, twin sister JoAnn Taylor, and sister Norma Jeanne Meehan.
Marilyn held a few jobs in her life but her biggest and most rewarding was her job as mother and grandmother. She quite often sacrificed her personal gain to help out family and always put others first. She was also involved in the community and was past president of the local U of I home extension. Marilyn was an avid bowler and was involved over 30 years with the Wednesday afternoon ladies league and was also secretary of the league. She was an avid card player and was involved in various card clubs in the area. Even in later years she was sharp at her game. Marilyn's work ethic was developed early growing up on the farm and never left her. Even in her later years she never shied away from work and quite often would say she enjoyed pulling weeds in the garden. Marilyn was always a great cook and was especially known for her famous homemade noodles she would often make around the holidays. She will be greatly missed. Marilyn accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and some of her favorite verses of Scripture were Ephesians 2:8-9 and John 3:16. She loved the Lord very much.
Services for Marilyn will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Bethany Community Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Pastor Kent Kloter will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Five Points Washington or St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, where she was a member.
