Obituary Marie Katherine Carson, 91, of Pekin, passed away at 3:45am Wednesday December 23, 2015 at UnityPoint Proctor in Peoria. Marie was born January 15, 1924 in Groveland Township, to William and Myrtle Hoffsteter Dozard. She married Harry A. Carson November 13, 1940 in East Peoria. He preceded her in death March 12, 1969. Surviving are three children, Bonnie (Gordon) Lofton of Pekin, Judy (Tony) Naples of Kewanee, and Ron (Mary Lou) Carson of Warwick, NY; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and three sons, Harry, Bob, and Lloyd Carson. During the 1950s, Marie worked for WT Grant's store. She went on to serve many years as secretary for Groveland Township Supervisor under Ed Giebelhausen, before her retirement. She was a member of the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) and was attending Pekin First Nazarene. Marie loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. A funeral service for Marie will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday December 26, 2015 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at noon, Monday December 28, 2015 at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Rev. Lloyd Brock will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation .
