Obituary Margaret M. "Peg" Sommerfield, 96, of Metamora and formerly of East Peoria, IL, died at 6:15 pm Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Snyder Village in Metamora. Born on May 29, 1921 in Deerfield, IL to Howard and Zada Morgan Bingham, she married Robert J. Sommerfield on June 6, 1943 in Wheeling, IL. He preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by 2 children, Mark Sommerfield of Laguna Beach, CA and Gale (Eugene) Burk of East Peoria, IL, 7 grandchildren, Bonnie (Jason) Raymond, Jon Eric (Samantha) Nelson, Daniel (Donna) Nelson, Megan (Rob) Bryson, Laura Sommerfield, LeeAnn (Paul) Stephens, and Eric Burk, 6 great-grandchildren, Becca, Ryan, Teagan, Alivia, Khloe, and Sierra and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Adalyn. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Bingham. A 1942 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan Univeristy, Peg taught piano and cello lessons in her East Peoria home for more than 40 years and was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a musical fraternity, for more than 50 years. She also was a longtime golfer with the Fondulac Park District, was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader for many years, and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria for over 50 years. A memorial service for Peg will be at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the SV Center at Snyder Village in Metamora. Rev. Denise Jones will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Memorials may be made to TAPS or to her church music program.
