Obituary WASHINGTON - Margaret S. Roper, 93, of Washington, died at 8:15 pm Monday, February 15, 2010 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL. Born on August 7, 1916, to Martin and Eva Beierlein Stromberger, she married Roy C. Roper on June 18, 1938 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2005 in Washington, IL. Surviving are 1 son, Bill (JoAnna) Roper of Metamora, IL and 1 daughter, Rebecca (Raymond) Sawyer, of Kennett, MO, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Robert Roper and 1 daughter, Romaine Hurd. In her early years, Margaret worked as a Bookkeeper for General Motors in New York. She was a lifetime member of the NRA. She was an avid collector of many things, including antiques, dolls, and historical memorabilia and enjoyed politics and anything to do with history. She also enjoyed doing crafts and cooking. A memorial service celebrating Margaret's life will be at 6 pm Friday, February 19, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Memorial visitation will be from 4-6 pm Friday at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
