Obituary
East Peoria - Margaret M. "Marge" Pullen, 77, of East Peoria, died on Friday March 30, 2012 at 12:54 PM at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on October 17, 1934 in Echo, MN to Harold O. and Alma Anderson Kvistero. She married Gordon Pullen on December 11, 1954 at the Rock Valley Church in Echo, MN. He survives. She is also survived by two daughters; Sheryl (Eric) Riley of Pekin, IL and Lisa (Ryan) McGuinness of Etters, PA, one son; Kent (Marla) Pullen of Downers Grove, IL; eight grandchildren Justin (Melanie) Riley, Lindsey (Ronan) Shabelski, Dane Riley, Mark Pullen, Jacob Pullen, Jenna McGuinness, Lauren McGuinness and Ryan McGuinness Jr, and one sister; Eunice (Byron) Dokken of Coon Rapids, MN. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria, IL where there will be a funeral service on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Pastor Kurt Mews will officiate. There will be a visitation from 5-7 PM on Monday April 2 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria and one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation will be accorded after the service.
Marge worked for Prudential Life Insurance Company in Minneapolis before she and Gordon married. She then briefly worked for the civil service at Fort Hood, Texas where Gordon served his last year of Army life. They moved back to Minneapolis in January 1956 before having their first child Kent, after which Marge went to work at the University of Minnesota Hospital and stayed there until Gordon graduated and they moved to Peoria in May of 1960. In Peoria, Marge worked in the student nurse training at Methodist Hospital. She then became a full time mother until the family moved to Iowa. There, she was a bookkeeper for a trucking company that Gordon was a partner in. They again moved back to the Peoria area where she began working for Business Communication Systems in Morton and worked there until her retirement in January 2011. She has been a wife, mother, grandmother and associate and leaves behind many friends and relatives. She touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her.
