Margaret Madelon
Lee
May 25, 1933 — Mar 9, 2026
Margaret "Margie" Lee, 92, of Washington, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by her loving family.
Margie was born May 25, 1933, in Bloomington, Illinois to the late John and Margaret (Harder) Carbery. She married Keith Lee on August 11, 1951, at St. Bernard's Church in Peoria. He preceded her death.
She is survived by seven children, Kathy (Larry) Holcombe of Asheville, NC, Jackie Piper of Galesburg, Jerry (Shelia) Lee of Washington, Janet (Stan) Osborne of Gulfport, FL, Brian (Kandi) Lee of Pekin, Glenn (Lisa) Lee of East Peoria, and Joe (Kathy) Lee of Washington; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her three siblings; her granddaughter, Chandra; and son-in-law, Dan Piper.
Margie graduated from Trinity High School in Bloomington and was married shortly after. She was an amazing mother to her seven children, and Grandma Margie to her troop of grandchildren and great grandchildren. As you would expect, she loved babies. She was an avid fan of the Cubs and Illinois basketball and loved to yell coaching "tips" at the TV (she was usually right!). She was a long-time member of St. Patrick's church where she was a charter member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians and made many performances as part of the Singing Nuns. She had a bit of a sweet tooth and loved to host her grandchildren and great children for an annual Christmas baking day. Margie had a smile that would brighten any room, and we joked that she never took a bad picture. She loved to host family and friends, and any visitor was treated to her wonderful hospitality and her signature goodbye. In fact, our enduring memory of her will be her standing at the front door, smiling, waving her goofy wave until you pulled out of sight.
Margie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington where her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026, with Father John Steffen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, March 13th at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Church - Mary, Mother of God Parish or to Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
