Obituary WASHINGTON- Malter "Mike" W. Arndt, 67, of Washington passed away at 4:25 AM on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at his residence. Mike was born February 22, 1947 in Bloomington to Wilbur and Lisleen Arndt. He married Sharon Nunamaker on August 6, 1965 in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Janice (Scott) Niemeyer of Creve Coeur, Teresa (Bob) Pheasant of Washington, and Michael (Lindsay) Arndt of Morton; siblings, William (Suzanne) Arndt of Mattoon, Charles (Patricia) Arndt of Austin, TX, and Kimberly (John) Filter of Bloomington; 5 grandchildren, Zachery Martin, Ryan Pheasant, Sydney Pheasant, Nicholas Arndt, and Molly Arndt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sandra Miller and an infant brother, Willis Arndt. Mike was a 1965 graduate of Bloomington Community High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967-1970. He worked as an auto glass installer in the local area for 38 years. Mike cherished his time with his grandchildren, watching drag racing, woodworking, and doing puzzles. There will be a funeral service for Mike on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate. There will be a visitation two hours prior, from 4:00PM-6:00 PM. The family requests that those attending the service for Mike wear casual, outdoor attire. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
