Obituary BARTONVILLE- Lucy Schmidt, 71, of Bartonville, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 6:45 P.M. at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria. Lucy was born on August 24, 1945 in Brownsville, TX to Johnnie and Lucille Enns Parker. Lucy is survived by her two sisters, Jeanne (Carl) Glover and Kathy Murray, both of East Peoria; her companion and best friend, Ed Van Oppen of Bartonville; two stepchildren, Vanessa Van Oppen of Bartonville and Vinnie Van Oppen of Wisconsin; five step-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kenzy, Michael, Beau, Daytona; & nieces and nephews, John, Jessica, Lori, Katie, and Sammy. She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew, David Murray, and niece, Kim Lear. Lucy most recently worked as a devoted office manager at the Art Hossler Auto Plaza in Canton. She loved collecting angels of any kind, but especially her special Seraphim Angels. She loved watching Hallmark holiday movies and spending time with her granddaughter, Kelsey, shopping whenever they could & watching her play softball. Lucy will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital- the Midwest Affiliate or Rescued Heart Animal Hospital in Pekin. There will be a funeral service for Lucy on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria, with a visitation a half hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Randy Williams will officiate. There will also be a visitation on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria.
