Obituary Peoria - Lucy J. Mahrt, 64 of Peoria died at 2:55 PM on Saturday August 2, 2014 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on August 16, 1949 in Jackson, TN to Floyd and Bettie Hendrix Butler. She married Rick Mahrt in Varna on September 4, 2004. He survives and resides in Varna. She is also survived by her mother Bettie Butler of Washington. Lucy had three children, Ryan (Candace) Frye of Troy, OH, Adam (Nikki) Frye of Swartz Creek, MI, and Stephanie (Rob) Geddes of Attleboro, MA, with Stephen L. Frye. Also surviving are two step-children, Jessica Bradbury of Groveland and Nicholas (Dawnie) Mahrt of Varna, ten grandchildren and one sister Phyllis (John) Quast of Goodfield. She was preceded in death by her father. Lucy loved life. She loved to sing and dance and have fun. She was a woman of deep faith and was very active, especially enjoying tennis. Lucy loved her three children dearly. She volunteered at Proctor Hospital in Peoria for several years. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday August 6, 2014 at 1 PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Father Patrick Henehan will officiate. There will be a visitation on Tuesday August 5, 2014 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Illinois Neurological Institute and OSF Neurological ICU.
