Obituary East Peoria - Louise N. Thurman, 91, died at 2:45 PM on Friday August 2, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria. She was born September 19, 1921 in Purdy, Mo to the Rev. James and Lillie Dae Jackson Barrett. She married Royal Theodore "Ted" Thurman on October 15, 1938 in Aurora, MO. Surviving are one daughter; Judy Crackel of Peoria, two sons; Bob (Amanda) Thurman of Washington and John (Starr) Thurman of Peoria, ten grandchildren, sixteen great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by one brother, Jarvis (Mary) Barrett of Aurora, MO. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Ted, daughter Elva Marie, five brothers and five sisters. During World War II, she and her husband worked at the shipyards in California. Then they returned to the Midwest to raise a family. Louise was an excellent seamstress and cook. The funeral service will be on Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 11 AM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Nick Olyer will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery. The family would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria for the special care they showed Louise during her Illness.
