Obituary WASHINGTON - Lila M. Sykes, 86, of Washington, IL and formerly of Des Plaines, IL died at 6:25 pm Sunday, June 21, 2009 at her home. Born on April 4, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Mack and Augusta Becker Wilde, she married Robert P. Sykes on July 19, 1947 in Chicago. He died on March 19, 1996. Surviving are 2 daughters Bobby L. (Edward) Salm of Coatesville, IN and Renee (Dave) Adams of Washington, IL, 1 sister, Betty Ericson of Mt. Prospect, IL, and 4 grandchildren, Russel Salm, Andrew Salm, Tara Adams and Troy Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Lila worked as a Secretary and Bookkeeper at Wilde's Transparent Bag Co. and later worked part -time for Des Plaines Publishing Co. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington, and formerly was a member of Edison Park Lutheran Church in Chicago and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Des Plaines. Lila enjoyed crocheting, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and bird watching. An avid dog lover, she also enjoyed caring for her dog, Murphy. Services and visitation will be held at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with local arrangements.
