Lila J. Neville, 94, of Washington, passed away at 12:45am Monday, June 14, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Lila was born October 13, 1926 in Carlinville, IL to the late Colin and Hilda Dawson Boyd. She married Richard Neville on July 4, 1959 in Virden; he preceded her in death on October 15, 2017.
Surviving are her children, Greg Neville and Anita Metternich; and her granddaughter Haleigh Metternich, all of Washington; and her special grand-puppy, Jasper.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph and George Boyd.
After finishing high school, Lila worked for Caterpillar, where she met her husband. Over the years, she was a room mother for her kids. She also worked at the ICC bookstore later in her life, where she made many lifelong friendships. She was an active and longtime member of Washington Presbyterian Church. Lila loved music! Beside singing and playing handbells at church, she was member of the Side By Side choral group and she loved participating in the annual Habitat for Humanity Love Thy Neighbor Concert. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and she watched every game on TV. She loved animals and was a wonderful wife, mom, and grandma, taking the best care of her family.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Thursday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A funeral service for Lila will follow at 7:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Rev. Dr. Linda Philabaun will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA or to TAPS.
