Obituary EAST PEORIA--Leonard James Marsh, age 86, of East Peoria, Illinois died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday August 12, 2006 at his daughter's home in Garland, Texas. He was born April 1, 1920, the son of Frank and Bessie (Stanley) Marsh in East Peoria, IL. He married Dorothy Ragan in East Peoria on July 28, 1939 and she preceded him in death September 13, 2005. Leonard is survived by two sons, Leonard Wayne (Paula) Marsh of Washington, IL and John J. (Pam) Marsh of East Peoria, IL; one daughter, Jean (Dan) DeMent of Garland, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Jenny (Tim) VanAntwerp and Jerrod (Carey) of Washington, Stephanie Fancher and Nick Fancher of Texas, Adriena (Mark) Warner and Shawn (Jay) Sams of East Peoria, Christopher (Beth) of Peoria, and Amy (Jason) Newell of Mt. Vernon, IL; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Rose Gold and Thelma Coleman and his brother-in-law Jim Ragan, Sr. Leonard was a US Army veteran of World War II and employed by Caterpillar for 42 years until his retirement in 1982. He was awarded runner-up "Father of the Year" by the Peoria Journal Star in 1954. The most important thing is Leonard's life was family, he will be remembered for the love and kindest he gave to all. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one grandson Patrick David Marsh, five brothers and three sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday August 18, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home at 444 E. Washington Street in East Peoria. The Rev. Nick Oyler will officiate. Interment will follow on Friday at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. The Marsh Family will receive family and friends on Friday from 1 PM until service time at the Funeral Home.
