Obituary PEORIAa"Laurie L. Simon, 60, of Peoria, died at 3:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at her residence. She was born on April 7, 1948 in Aurora, Illinois and was raised by Paul and Marillyn Allonby Mammen. She married Patrick J. Simon on March 5, 1979 in Peoria IL; he survives. Also surviving is her daughter Heather "Nikki" Simon and son Paul T. Simon, both of Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Kenneth Smith. Laurie worked at Peoria Pest Control as both a bookkeeper and technician, and later worked as an Event Coordinator for the Peoria Civic Center. Laurie was an avid gardener and volunteered with the Maltese and Boston Terrier Rescue Organizations. She was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Peoria, and later attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. A funeral mass will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 3 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. Fr. Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, May 2 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. Recitation of the rosary will be held Friday at 6:45 PM at the funeral home.
